Many people may not know it, but 80% of items ordered from eBay arrive in 3 business days. For sellers who qualify, who offer consistent good service, comply with their established handling times for instance, the option to opt into the Guaranteed Delivery program is now available. The program will roll out in phases, is completely optional but certainly carries some advantages with it.
In a nutshell, here is a description of the program from eBay's community blog:
"When you opt in, you will also choose between one of two guarantee options that work best for your business—handling time or door-to-door. The handling time option is best for sellers who can guarantee a 0-1 day handling time but do not wish to guarantee delivery dates. eBay will figure out your delivery date and back it with a guarantee—and reimburse the buyer’s shipping cost or provide a free return label if an item is late. If you wish to guarantee your own delivery dates, you may prefer the door-to-door option. This option gives sellers the freedom to base delivery dates on their operational capabilities and their carriers’ regional service."
What does this mean for us? Well, here at LazyBreeze Deals, it means that we will offer the handling time guarantee for items we are directly shipping and are sure we can have out the door in 1 business day. For many of our items, that are drop-shipped from our vendors and can take up to 3 business days to ship, the door-to-door option would be our most likely choice.
eBay sellers will have control as to which items are included in the program. Other details, like being able to specify cut-off times, whether you work on weekends or not will give much needed flexibility to the seller. You'll also be protected from negative feedback if you met the requirements. For buyers, this means clearer delivery times and improved trust.
